OpenPrinting News - Opportunity Open Source 4.0 - Call for Proposals extended to end of July

July 8, 2026
2 minute read

After having announced the 4th edition and having opened its Call for Proposals we have started coordinating with the local organizers and they have sent around e-mails to many potential speakers, especially also the speakers from the previous editions.

Some have already made their submissions, but many did not yet submit. Also longer exposure of the CfP could give us more interesting proposals, especially also from people new to the Opportunity Open Source. What counts for a proposal is less that you already have given many talks but rather that you can tell us something interesting, amazing, awesome, ground-breaking form the world of free and open-source software (and hardware).

Therefore we have extended our submission deadline to the end of this month,

Friday, July 31, 11:59pm IST (18:29 UTC)

So we are eager to see your proposals of Talks, workshops, panel sessions, BoFs/meet-ups, demo tables/booths, ...

We want to hear from you about

  • your experience with open source
  • switching to digital sovereignty and getting free of Big-Tech
  • replacing common commercial software suites with open source
  • local open source AI solutions for privacy and less data center resource consumption
  • how to get involved with open source development, not only coding, but also design, documentation, ...
  • ...
